Abstract:
In this talk, I will briefly describe the use of Machine Learning/Deep Learning methods for studying alpine glaciers, in terms of how much their surface has changed over the last decade and in terms of understanding the drivers of the observed mass changes, these being two major topics of my research. In the second (and more extensive) part, I will share a list of resources and research papers that cover various topics in Machine Learning, trying to highlight some caveats to consider when applying Machine Learning (incl. classical statistical) methods.
